Due to continued success and growth they're looking for an experienced project engineer, from either a Food/Chemical/or Pharmaceutical background, to join their successful operation to contribute to the quality of their service. Working with an established team of 6 other dynamic Project Engineers, dealing with “whole life cycle” project management & engineering within the food processing industry.
The Role
Working under own initiative, with support from their close-knit projects team as necessary, fulfilling “inception to completion” project engineering and management.
A typical project engineer’s role starts with carrying out client liaison to fully identify detailed user requirement following receipt of order.
Continuing with engineering works including - sourcing equipment from their own range of products and that of close partner companies, working with the client to establish working line layout and agreeing KPI’s, generate P&ID’s & PFD’s, supplier negotiations and equipment purchasing, project cost tracking and monitoring, conduct their own internal fabrication quality and pre-assembly inspections and those with the client prior to despatch. Documentation gathering for manual compilation and training purposes.
Finishing with on-site works from start of installation to hand-over to client including – Site supervision of all elements of installation works, working closely with key contractors for both mechanical and electrical build. Hands-on approach to commissioning, engineer/operator training and managing closure of snagging lists.
On larger projects you may be nominated “project leader” whereby you would be leading a small team of engineers plus health and safety manager on site working under CDM regulations.
The successful candidate can expect a healthy split of 60% office based activities and 40% on-site. Site involvement varies from project to project but would typically involve 12hour days 7 days/week and can be for long durations of time – average 2-3 months, in blocks of time possibly 4-week blocks. Short term site involvement typically 4-6 weeks would generally be covered in a single block. Longer term projects are considered on individual basis.
Candidate Attributes:
Minimum HNC/HND qualification in engineering
Minimum 3 years industry experience (mechanical/process bias)
Previous experience in equipment design, fabrication and installation, project engineering.
Preferably from the food, pharmaceutical or other related process industry.
Good understanding of machinery process and design.
A strong "hands-on" engineering background.
Dynamic, enthusiastic and flexible approach and willing to travel (at times on extended durations).
Excellent Commercial awareness.
Excellent people skills and clear communicator with the ability to form strong customer relationships.

Department:
Working within the Systems and Engineering department as member of the design team, to work closely with the engineers to develop electrical design solutions for junction boxes, marshalling cabinets, electrical starter gear for industrial electric motor drives associated with diverse, bespoke hydraulic drive and control solutions for many different industries. Taking responsibility for the design solution produced meeting with the responsible engineers approval. Maintain electrical standards used within the business. Realisation of activities - priorities through the design group leader, direct reporting to the department manager.
Service - Role Performed:
To produce and issue electrical design solutions using CAD / Electronic Media, for the business.
To facilitate support to Sales / Engineering, including concepts, quotations (technical input and costings), technical support.
To facilitate interaction to Logistics - Procurement, including enquiry (specification), review of offers (technically), specification of materials.
To facilitate interaction to Quality, including the provision of Inspection and test requirements.
To facilitate interaction with Production - Workshop, including the dissemination and clarification of working instructions and the processes and methods derived for realisation of the solution.

Qualification:
Definition of qualifications, experience and knowledge.
HNC electrical Engineering or Equivalent
Proficient in the creation and specification of electrical design solutions using CAD tools including AutoCAD
Electrical system design
The specification of electrical components and transmission / instrumentation inventory.
The sizing, rating and performance of inventory including cables, fuses, circuit breakers, isolators, relays
The sizing, rating and performance of inventory including motor starting and PLC circuits
Interpret electrical interface to hydraulic equipment, given hydraulic circuits and symbols representing same
IEE wiring regulations

Our client is a UK bag maker which has been in business since 1878, manufacturing all kinds of custom made bags for high street and designer retailers, industrial businesses, exhibitions, promotions and launches.
They design and make a wide range of products including printed bags and eco-friendly cotton bags.
They’re recruiting for a machine operator/CAD Designer to join their team in March, and support the smooth running of the factory by ensuring textile materials are cut to the correct patterns using the Automatic Cutting Machine (Gerber) and presented to the sewing machinists for assembly into finished goods.
Additionally, they’re looking for the candidate to be trained in CAD Design. Full training will be provided to the selected candidate, involving training from our existing CAD Designer and external training via an AutoCAD course at Peterborough Regional College.
