Our clients products are represented in the leading brands of international food and drink manufacturers. Due to planned expansion they now seek a EHS Manager, Environmental Health & Safety Manager / Quality Manager
Main Scope of Role:
To continually improve the factory performance and effectively manage to ensure that Safety, Quality, Environment and Throughput are delivered through management and development of the team members, demonstrating leadership behaviours.
Key Result Areas:
Ensure standards are met in the following areas, understanding the requirements of the business management system - safety, food safety, quality, environment, housekeeping and orderliness.
Understand the site contingency plans and be involved with site practices (emergency plan, incident management).
Demonstrate responsibility for the operation to agreed objectives or targets of areas within area of accountability including - Beet End, Sugar End, Finished Products, Animal Feed, CHP, Bioethanol, Phoenix, CKS.
Manage reactive and proactive engineering activities during the operation period (operational or non operational) to engineering standards.
Manage the performance of the team conducting reviews as set by the business calendar to help team members reach their potential using a coaching and mentoring style.
Provide Health & Safety leadership and deliver all elements of H&S within area of responsibility. Also understand all significant hazards within area of responsibility and ensure management of associated risks in accordance with company policy, and ensure that team members are suitably trained and competent to carry out the tasks required of them safely and effectively.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Understand all hazards and controls associated with a complex industrial environment.
Good technical knowledge and experience of the food industry.
Working understanding of technical accounting and experience of owning/running budgets and re-forecasting processes.
IT Skills - Microsoft and database packages.
NEBOSH General Certificate, and A Levels in Maths or Science at C or above

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
To deliver best in class commercially viable products from an approved product brief to concept sign off that meet the NPD needs of our customers & satisfy business strategy.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION:
Member of the site NPD team, reporting into the NPD Controller
SUMMARY OF SCOPE OF JOB:
1. Account management (for allocated customers) through phase 1 to 3 of the NPD Process.
2. Concept Product Development in accordance to business strategy & customer expectations.
3. Team management & development.
4. Management of budget & departmental objectives.
5. Generic management responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Food related degree or course and basic culinary skill.
Good communication and organisation skills and a proven ability to work cross functionally at all levels.
Full driving license.
EXPERIENCE:
5+ years product development experience with project management skills.
Track record of building & maintaining retail customer relationships.
Track record demonstrating timely development and delivery of commercially viable products.

To manage, develop & maintain the relationship between the clients & its customer through effective communication, knowledge & a professional approach.
Communicate effectively with customers- developers, buyers, technical contacts where appropriate & ensure communication internally is consistently thorough.
Sound knowledge & understand of specific customer processes/ requirement through concept 1-3 of the NPD process.
To establish yourself as 1st point of contact for incoming briefs from allocated customers.
Issue of thorough & accurate contact reports both internally & externally.
2. Concept Product Development in accordance to business strategy & customer expectations.
Thorough knowledge & understanding of NPD Process throughout stages but in particular Phases 1-
Manage new product development activity through Phases 1-3 for allocated customers in accordance to NPD Process.
To respond to customer development needs as & when required.
To record all relevant information in an organized manner through the development process.
Develop commercially viable products inline with business objectives.
Ensure relevant parties are kept uptodate & informed on all NPD projects by chairmainshiip of NPD Meeting & issue of regular update.
Work closely with cross functional team members to ensure smooth progression through NPD process.
To ensure timely completion of benchmarking both internally & externally & drive actions where required to improve products.
Product presentations both internally & externally in response to briefs.
Timely & accurate completion of required documentation through NPD Process.
Ensure accuracy of costings & tracking of them through the products development.
Monitor new raw materials ensure technical, commercial & operational suitability is met.
Taste panel of all products to sign off prior to customer submission.
Organise & conduct handover meetings to process team following product approval ensuring all required information is complete.
Feed required information to Technical team in order to ensure specifications can be completed.
Manager competitive shopping requirements with rest of team.
Ensure 1st trial are attended by the concept team.
Ensure cleaning rota is adhered in order to help maintain clean & hygienic NPD Kitchen.

3. Team management & development

Work with other Product Manager & Controller to understand total team priorities & allocate resource appropriately if required
Achieve delivery at pace and get the bets out of the team by effective management
Alongside the Controller review individuals objectives, development plans & performance
Work with other Product Manager to ensure cover through busy holiday periods
4. Management of budget & departmental objectives
Exercise budgetary control through regular monitoring of budget v actual spend
Work with Controller to set budget & reforecasts through the financial year
To lead by example to team with regards to cost saving initiatives
Contribute to period end reporting requirements by working with other Product & Process Managers
Tracking of team performance against Team Objectives
5. Generic NPD management responsibilities
Attendance at Group NPD Meeting & business briefings
Ensure personnel forms are completed.
Ensure completion of all necessary recruitment documentation.
Ensure inductions are delivered to all new employees.
Contribute to upkeep of weekly Human Resources statistics.
Ensure absence management and control procedures are maintained.
Conduct Return to Work interviews with direct reports.

Main Scope of Role:
The Improvement Engineer will be responsible for identifying and delivering sustainable improvements in operational performance, product quality and customer service. In addition to using their technical expertise to enhance existing processes, the role holder will play a central role in delivering £multi-million capital projects and development programmes. This involves challenging the tried and tested, as well as motivating those around you.
Key Result Areas:
Co-ordinate factory improvement processes.
Lead improvement activities and develop problem solving techniques across site.
Work with Area Managers and Technicians in process troubleshooting as an integral part of the operations team.
Provide technical support across the Area Manager and Team Leader group to ensure the factory achieves financial and technical budgets during operational periods.
Use experience and judgement to be a part of technical discussions and demonstrate a co-ordinated approach to ensure optimum decisions are taken.
Deputise for Area Manager role cover when required.
Skills & Experience Required:
Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree or equivalent.
At least 3 years experience of working in a large-scale Process Operations industry.
o Have experience of leading continuous improvement initiatives and have the ability to conceptulise new ideas in the context of a business.
o Have experience of leading multiple capital expenditure projects.
Be a problem solver with strong analytical skills.
