As a key member of our Quality Team, The Quality Engineer will support the development and implementation of an internal Project Management System (PMS) for offshore projects and all relevant quality processes. The Quality Engineer may be called upon to act as Project Quality Manager or Engineer and will be responsible for specifying and leading on Project Quality Management and Quality Assurance requirements.
Principal Accountabilities
Health & Safety
• Visible commitment to safety improvement programmes and to a culture of zero accidents or incidents relating HSE&S.
Quality
• Support of the development of projects, e.g. quality aspects, specify general quality requirements.
• Support of the main quality department located in Germany, e.g. development, introduction and implementation of standards and procedures.
• Responsible for specifying and leading on Project Quality Management and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Check the product specifications, inspection - and test plans (ITP’s) and other documents for fabrication and installation.
• Planning and coordination the surveillance of manufacturing, inspection inclusive reporting of the inspection results in the projects and in the line organisation (Quality Department)
• Undertaking surveillance/visits/inspections to manufacturers’ works and construction sites.
• Support for supplier pre-qualification and evaluation.
• Inspection visits inclusive reporting.
• Consultation and support for projects based on rules, guidelines and standards.
• Consolidation of contracts and relationships with external assurance agencies.
• Communication with supplier organisations, project team and specialists at all levels.
• Support for estimation from non conformities to the contract requirements in respect of the quality view.
Skills & Experience:
• A sound technical background in an industry related Engineering discipline e.g. mechanical or electrical or civil or installation.
• Power plant experience e.g. ideally proven offshore wind farm and/or Quality Assurance/Quality Control skills and experience is desirable.
• Qualification to degree, HND or HNC level or equivalent in an appropriate Engineering discipline.
• A skilled communicator, you are able to work effectively with project managers, plant suppliers, engineering specialists and agency staff with variable QA knowledge.
• Willingness to travel extensively is essential; however the role is based in Swindon 90% of the time.
• Experience in Quality Inspections, assessing tenders, approving suppliers, or visiting manufacturers.
• Skills and experience to work successfully in a quality environment, interfacing effectively with project managers, plant suppliers, engineering specialists and agency staff, any of which may have variable QA knowledge or experience.

The Job Role: Project (Capital) Engineering Manager

Overview:
The role of Project Engineering manager is a critical appointment and is vital for the successful delivery the sites capital projects. The successful candidate will report to the Manufacturing Director and will be a key part of the Manufacturing Team and the Senior Management Team.
Working with a dedicated and experienced management team, the successful candidate will be based at our production facility in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. The site is split into two factories, one producing two types of foods. It is within the savoury meals and sweet puddings factory that capacity improvements are planned: sales demand, particularly for savoury meals is increasing rapidly. Our client is a dynamic and forward thinking company, keen to improve existing facilities to fully meet its growth potential.
The role of Project Engineering Manager will require the successful candidate to balance the day to day production stresses and strains with the responsibility for the delivery of specific projects. They will be able to manage their time effectively to achieve these dual requirements. They will form and lead project teams which have all the necessary technical and site knowledge The Project Engineering Manager will have the allegiance of colleagues and will have the gravitas necessary to bring together the right people to complete project work on time and to budget.
The successful candidate will have good problem solving and analytical skills which will enable them to successfully contribute to projects, but more importantly, they will work with and through others to achieve their end goal. They will be confident and assured, willing to present their ideas and able to influence others to buy in to these. Successful project delivery will require an organised and determined individual who will see the big picture and understand how to manage each project element to successful completion.

Our business unit selling product and services into the NHS is currently growing at over 10 per cent volume growth per annum. We need to create capacity to support the next five years of sustained growth;
All our food is frozen to below minus 12 prior to despatch. We use Spiral Freezers to achieve this and we need to design, present and implement a cost effective solution to balance freezing capacity and growth;
An investment in the Mill site Sweets department is a key priority. The equipment in the current operation is time expired; certain production lines are short of capacity. The area is inefficient with inappropriate material flows;
Automation and robotics will greatly enhance our operation. The Project engineering manager will be expected to bring new ideas and inspire the team to identify productivity savings;
We are very proud of our factory and see it as a source of competitive advantage. We need a engineer who will challenge and recommend improvements that will improve our technical strength and make the site a safer environment to work;
The Engineering manager will ensure all CAPEX investments meet technical and Food Industry Best Practice standards.
The Project Engineering Manager will provide strategic support for both Portbury and other business locations and provide project management support for the integration of new business in the event of acquisitions;
Develop and implement projects to improve our environmental performance and through investment improves manufacturing energy performance.

Essential:
An individual who can demonstrate prior responsibility and achievement for continuous improvement within a medium to large FMCG environment.
Has had responsibility for and has achieved the successful delivery of all aspects of major capital projects (circa £2 million).
Prior accountability for and control of all areas of a capital budget.
Can demonstrate leadership within own team and more importantly of peers by the use of appropriate delegation.
Has taken responsibility for implementing a successful and thorough PPM system which met business needs and reduced down time.
Prior responsibility for the Health and Safety of major capital projects.
Desirable:
Experience of engineering within a food manufacturing environment and able to demonstrate understanding of production, hygiene, technical processes.
Prior responsibility for developing and delivering a capital strategy or site Masterplan.
Experience of working in a multi-site environment.
Proven experience of playing a leadership role within a senior management team and able to show how they contributed to achievement of team goals.
Demonstrable evidence of increasing energy awareness and reducing overhead costs.
Must have a thorough understanding of the commerciality of engineering expenditure e.g. through negotiation of service and supply contracts etc, good understanding of stock management.
