MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
As Production Team Leader you will be responsible for all activities associated with meeting the production plan. Responsible for area quality, output, training and performance. Takes lead responsibility and acts with a degree of autonomy in running their area/team. The management of all resources and activities in a specific area to achieve the business plan and KPI measures. You will help drive continuous improvements by proactively focusing on improvements and ensuring a high degree of housekeeping is maintained.
REPORTING SUMMARY: Production Manager
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
TEAM
Upholding behaviour standards
Maintain core skills through direct “hands on” activity, approximately 60/70%
Plan, authorise and control holidays to meet budgetary targets.
Control overtime to meet area targets and within budgetary limits.
Promote continuous improvement activity within the team.
Responsible for training of the team and monitoring of progress for absence cover.
Carry out team member appraisals (PDD)
Promote continuous improvement activity, utilise lean manufacturing techniques, and support standard work initiatives.
Maintain daily production boards and team board documentation.
Conduct start of shift meetings with cell personnel.
Responsible for maintaining a high standard of 5s in line with company targets/initiatives.
Responsible for meeting all standard work requirements within the work area.
Responsible for day to day completion of change initiatives.
SAFETY
Responsible for Safety Audit schedule adherence.
Management of area risk assessments.
Participate in occupational health activity to support team welfare.
Operate in accordance with Health, Safety & Environment policy and responsible for area adherence to all procedures.
Responsibility for completion of daily fire registers.
DELIVERY
Responsible for escalating any material, labour or equipment resource issues using the formal company processes.
Improve efficiencies, monitor and manage local KPI’s.
Identify resources needed for successful achievement of plan and escalate using the relevant company procedures.
Achievement / adherence of the production plan to give 100% performance to both internal and external customer/suppliers.
Monitor performance of team and manage downtime logs. First line absence and disciplinary management is conducted swiftly and effectively.
Monitor performance of all team personnel and escalate continued poor performance to area Production Manager for formulation of action plan.
Responsible for liaising and communicating with all support functions and immediate Manager to achieve area targets.
QUALITY
Lead local 5S activity to promote a safe, defect-free and ‘visual workplace’
Monitor quality performance, on a daily basis, and action plans to prevent re-occurrence.
Support the reduction of all forms of non conformance in area by root cause elimination.
Deliver the production schedule at or above company quality targets. These targets will be published for each area.
Promote the “Right First Time” ethos, ensuring quality checks and tests are performed.

Essential:
A minimum of 2 years Manufacturing/Engineering experience, gained within multi skilled environment, or through previous skilled experience.
Computer literate.
Able to effectively problem solving and fault diagnosis.
Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of processes.
Train and assess job competences.
Be self motivated and capable of working on own initiative.
A good flexible team player, able to effectively communicate with a range of other work colleagues and members of other departments.
The attitude and will to make a difference.
Desirable:
A formal qualification at NVQ
Level 3 or working towards qualification
Recognised Supervision/Leadership qualification.
Knowledge of Syspro
Can demonstrate with examples of previous work experience
Previous workplace experience in a fast changing process environment and must be able to respond to the demand of operational requirements

Key Tasks:
· Assisting with all purchasing activities within commodity groups, as may be required.
· Purchasing goods and services at the least total cost.

· All clerical duties arising from the above including accurate maintenance of computer files, filing of quotes and purchase order duplicates and invoice processing.

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
Responsible for improving productivity and lowering unit cost at multiple sites by providing leadership and direction. Identify and evaluate problems and develop improvements to production, distribution, packaging material usage and methods of operations by using proven Industrial Engineering techniques to reduce unit cost, improve quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identify and evaluate problems and develop improvements to production, layout, internal flows, utilization, packaging material usage and methods of operations by using proven industrial engineering techniques.
• Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
• Responsible for running cost analysis as it relates to operational, technological, or payroll expenses.
• Conduct feasibility studies of various projects to determine the value of an investment and provide an economical justification for capital appropriations.
• Makes recommendations for investment in new technologies and improvement of efficiency within the warehouse workflow, including warehouse decision making capabilities, workplace safety, and customer service standards.
