Job Purpose
" To identify, develop and integrate manufacturing opportunities and solutions across Finished Product sites which deliver measurable and sustainable improvements in Safety, Productivity, Cost, Quality, Service and Reputation.
" Support a step change in capability, capacity & behaviour across Product Availability in order to provide a World Class Food Manufacturing base.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
" Develop & implement Equipment Availability Strategy at site (Asset utilisation & strategy, maintenance regime):
" Maintain and execute Asset Roadmap to deliver Corporate Strategy & Goals
" Maintain and execute rolling 5year equipment and asset care strategy (repair vs replace)
" Maintain and execute rolling 5year maintenance programme
" Ensure alignment and cohesion across Site, Supply Chain & Corporate Objectives and in line with CAPEX & OPEX targets
" Drive continuous improvement across Finished Products to ensure:
" Consistent performance metrics and targets are implemented and achieved for Assets - reliability, productivity & availability
" Effective business case design and evaluation for Finished Products CAPEX & OPEX Equipment Availability Projects (objectives, scope, approach, deliverables, tender design, supplier evaluation, resource requirements & timelines)
" Effective delivery of Product Availability Engineering Projects at site - time, cost, quality
" Advocate & Champion World Class Manufacturing Base across Finished Product Sites:
" Collaborate with suppliers & other sectors to understand latest technologies & best practices and their application
" Analyse current operating practices and processes and use industry best practices and innovation to drive improvement across all aspects of the operations.
" Provide expert knowledge, support and coaching to Product Availability team on Manufacturing and Engineering Excellence
" Support Corporate Goals and Commercial Development
" Influence and encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, best practice across the Finished Products and Site Engineering
Measures of Success
Performance: Performance is maintained at target (or better) consistently each period for:
" Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
" Product Availability (to meet orders)
" Safety, Quality and Food Safety
" Customer Complaints
Cost: Spend remains in-line (or better) than budget (or re-forecast).

PERSON SPECIFICATION
PREFERRED CRITERIA
" Extensive & demonstrable experience of conveying & packaging equipment within FMCG/Food sector manufacturing
" Broad experience in initiating and leading equipment reliability improvements in a high-volume, FMCG/Food manufacturing environment
" Experience of working in a lean operating environment, and as part of a high-performance team
" Experience of identifying, developing and implementing process and operational change within a FMCG environment.
" Proven experience of developing and delivering strategic investment plans and capital projects.
" Outstanding communication ability across all levels of the business and between all functions
" Ability to work proactively with minimal direct guidance
" Ability to think strategically, develop the vision and secure acceptance for it

TITLE: Strategic Buyer/Commodity Leader
REPORTS TO: Materials Manager
BASIC FUNCTION:
This position will be responsible for developing and executing an approved commodity strategy, supplier sourcing and relationship management, commercial agreements negotiations and management, and various forms of continuous improvement for assigned commodities.
SPECIFIC & ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
" Establish a multi-year strategy for assigned commodities on an annual basis and taking into consideration the overall business objectives.
" Negotiate and manage various forms of commercial agreements.
" Strategic supplier sourcing, selection, and management. Leverage opportunities with other Business Units where applicable.
" Strengthen strategic Supplier relationships through various collaborative continuous improvement initiatives and projects including cost reduction, quality / delivery objectives, and other performance measurements.
" Support and facilitate early Supplier involvement in new and current product design improvements. Manage costs and Supplier performance for critical components as identified within a project.
" Cross functional team leadership, facilitation, and project management requirements.
" Assist the tactical purchasing group on production schedule attainment issues where resolution requires assistance.
" Accountable for all aspects of purchase price variance, inflation, and deflation planning for assigned commodities (budgeting, execution, and causals).
" Work with the tactical buying team to develop material transition planning and execution to support resourcing efforts.
" Responsible for resolving and correcting various financial issues and discrepancies with Suppliers.
" Other assignments and tasks as requested from the Materials Manager.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
" BA/BS in Business, Engineering, or other degree
" CIPS certifications are preferred or currently studying for CIPS
" Training and knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma tools are desired
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
" 3-5 years experience in Purchasing / Supply Chain Mgt. at an O.E.M (Original Equipment Manufacturer) or Tier #1 Supplier manufacturing environment with at least 1 year of strategic purchasing experience.
" Previous tactical procurement and technical purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.
