(This is a must for any potential candidates) it is not just about taking off from drawings but it about being able to demonstrate that you have taken full responsibility for establishing the correct specification and quantities of materials to achieve the optimum materials solution for the site.
Permanent
£30000 to £35000 per annum
The role:
The successful candidate should be fully capable of procuring all material and plant requirements for a main building contractor across a wide spectrum of projects including residential development.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Procurement Manager/Senior Buyer, specific responsibilities of the role include:
o Preparation/issuing enquiries and placing orders for materials/plant requirements.
o Sourcing of new suppliers and management of agreed suppliers. Negotiating and implementing regional supply agreements.
o Assisting with development of standard Contractors Proposals for residential schemes.
o Assisting bid managers with material package tender and analysis.
o Material take off and scheduling.
o Liaison with client and in house design teams regarding design detailing and solutions.
o Attending Project meetings as required including start up and close down.
o Carry out value engineering analysis to establish optimum solutions for material and/or subcontract packages.
o Market intelligence gathering information and sharing with Head of Procurement and other key functions.

Key Attributes
o Proven technical knowledge, commercially astute, with in-depth knowledge of construction methods and details.
o A key function of the role will be to take off all materials required for new build residential projects, generally at contract stage, but with some tender involvement previous experience of this function is required.
o Proven ability to deliver change and generate sustainable value.

o Formal qualification in Building preferred
o Member of CIPS preferred

Overview:
The key responsibity of this role is to lead and manage Direct Material spend across a number of OEM suppliers, commodities, components and assemblies with respect to quality, cost, and delivery. In addition, the business requires leadership in achieving the lowest total cost of ownership through negotiations, value engineering and Low Cost Country sourcing when necessary.
Responsibilities:
The performance of the successful individual is defined and measured by goals and behaviours which give purchase price cost reduction / on time delivery/ short lead-times / best in class quality performance, and payment term improvements.
" Lead teams to select and implement suppliers as necessary according to the sourcing process.
" Negotiate best practice initial terms with suppliers.
" Monitor supplier's performance (cost, quality, delivery).
" Continously develop suppliers to improve their service.
" Implement the Purchasing tactics plan as directed.
" Manage all assigned tasks, escalating areas of concern.
" Support and promote good teamwork in the department and act in line with the company Values.
" Participate in the Product Creation Process to ensure early supplier involvement and meet cost targets.

Qualifications:
" The successful candidate will have the proven ability to manage a supply base and meet their objectives set by the Purchasing Manager.
" Communication and negotiation skills are a key competence, to ensure full stakeholder engagement and the ability to work with people of all levels and different cultures.
" The key interfaces for the Buyer are: the Purchasing Team, Buyer-Planner Team, Logistics Team, Spares Team, Site managers, the Supplier Quality Engineering Team, and the global supply base.
" Strong work experience with a strong track record of achievement.
" Experience of working in a Purchasing department.
" Degree educated (eng, science, business admin) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
" Strong interpersonal skills.
" Can demonstrate exceeding KPIs in their existing company.

The role of the Demand Planner includes:
To be a key contributor in the Demand Planning and IBP process and actively participate in the development, review and communication of the demand plan.
Maintain and update demand plans for assigned regions and franchises and ensure compliance with global processes.
Collaborate with local Sales & Marketing teams to conduct consensus reviews, obtain and review market intelligence and create new product demand plans.
Liaise with Customer Services and Supply Planning to ensure management of demand.
Consider the commercial impacts of changes in demand from planned budget.
Be a source of expertise in demand planning processes and in analytical techniques.
Lead and provide support and best-practices to develop global and local planning processes.
Drive or participate in projects and activities in support of these objectives.
Support achievement of company and corporate objectives.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Educated to degree level with experience in a Demand, Sales & Operations planning or analyst role.
Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in forecasting / planning with understanding financial and operational impacts. Highly numerate.
Knowledge of Demand Planning or other software related to Demand Planning is preferred.
APICS, IBF, or similar related accreditation preferred.
